Hi. I hope you can help me. I am looking for a first drift car, and am considering a 95 240sx. Do you think this would be a good decision? have heard its a great car for drifting, an s14 if im not mistaken. So, what do you think? Also, If i got one, i wanted to use this body kit 240sx Drifter conversion kit

the 240sx is a good car for drifting, as for the kit, the front end will probably fit like ****, I would suggest doing a search on s15 front ends

yes yes yes... go for the 240. Pretty cheap for the older ones and their good for drifting. Also easy to work with. It has great aftermarket options too.

 

you can get an s15 front end, I'm just saying that the company that makes the one you linked will probably fit like ****, the s15 conversion needs quality fenders or else your just gonna end up paying tons at a body shop for them to fix the shotty fenders and make them fit right. Like I said, do a search and check out some of the discussions

If your really gonna drift, body kit will be a waste of money. A learner car is gonna hit things.

 

and yes, the 240 is an excellent starting point, cheap, easily fixable/ replaced.

i have a 97 in pearl white in perfect condition the reason its like that is because i previously had a 93 that got wrecked while i was learning. Like 240trainee said i suggest you buy a garbage 240 to start with and work from there. after learning how and getting some skill then you should upgrade to a 97 or 98 in my opinion so that you dont have to go for the front end conversion to look really mean. wow, thanks for all the imput. Now here is the question, can someone help me find a 240 that would be a resonable price? and not to get too far off the topic, would it be worthwhile to purchase a JDM version of the s14 engine down the road? I dont remember the exact # but i found one for around 2500.

 

Look at eBay.com, autotrader.com, and cars.com. Pick up local Auto Traders too. You really have to put your search time in man. I know i have been lately. If you could find a older Carolla GTS AE-86 it would be a good starting drift car. Wreck it and your not screwed as much because the car probly didnt cost you as much.

 

I originally set out looking for an 86, but all I find are the non-gts. I would love have either. I figure I could work with the s14 better because I could get it easier. If someone can find a good deal before I do it would be very much appreciated. I am already searching ebay and autotrader.com day and night, but I am short of money right now so its hard to find a good deal.

 

You might have a beter chance finding a 1989 240sx for less money then a AE86 as they have been hyped up by Intial D and the drift scene.

 

if your low on funds, and looking for a beginner drifter car, go for something a little older, like maybe a 89-94 240, they can go as low as 800, cause if you get a s14 and crash it, your gonna be really pissed at yourself, most s14's start around 4k and up, ebay is a good bet at finding the type of car in your price range, only bad thing about it is, you dont get to look at it yourself or drive it before buying it, so you kinda have to take the risk
