My Car Stinks!! Help!!

OMFG!!! i just went to fix the cd player in my non-daily red SR hatch and when i opened the door i was greeted with the most un-pleasent smell and i actually threw up in my mouth. Let me start with a little back-story. Two weeks ago on wednesday i went to a car meet and drove my SR-powered machine to show off. This is my non- daily and isn't even registered. after the meet we all went to the chill spot and ordered A LOT of barbeque and subs. Before i left i took A LOT of food with me and put it in the hatch. I parked the car on the far side of the garage and haven't opened it in 2 weeks until today!! HOW THE HELL DO I GET THE NASTY *** SMELL OUT OF MY CAR. IT SMELLS LIKE DEAD BODIES. i already took out the rear seats and trunk mat but it still stinks like ****. What do i do??

Take sheets of fabric softener that you usually stick in your dryer and place them randomly through out your car. It should help absorb the smells.

And fabreeze/pine tree your car afterwards.

When I bought my Z31 the previous owner had forgotten he left a half eaten pizza in the hatch. The hatch leaked. The pizza got wet. It sat for over a month and then I bought the car. It stank worse than anything ive ever smelled before or since. How i got the smell out was by spraying it with febreeze and then burning incense in the hatch for a long time. No joke it worked.

Death smells are the hardest to get out. A possum climbed in my friend's Civic and died; that was 8 months ago and the car has been sold but still reeks like poo-poo. Just leave your windows down as much as possible(unless there are possums in your area), burn scented candles, maybe even try scrubbing your seats with an upholstery cleaner.

do all the above, also go out of your way to smoke in your car. (this helped cover the smell of paint in my car)

or just gut it, cage it, paint. haha.

yup gutting it and getting rid of that sound dampning stuff also kills the smell becuase it absorbs more than sound. i just primered and flat blacked my inside. nothing but dash and two seats in it now. its like living in an empty apartment.

just for ****s and giggles. and another example of what a gutted 240 looks like. not all that great, but better than smelling like dead bodies.

baking soda. just throw it around randomly and vaccume it up in about 24hrs.

since you took your seats out shampoo them and spray them with a nice smelling scent BEFORE they dry.

when you put them back in, they will help out a lot.

the biggest thing you can do though is take a DAMP towel and CAREFULLY wipe down your headliner, then spray fragrance into it. don'e drench it with fragrence.

It'll dominate almost anything for at least 2 months if you leave your windows up. at least a week if you have them down all the time.

I got my seats from a wrecking yard... so they smelled reaaaaaally bad. I pressure washed em with castrol superclean degreaser (workes wonders)... and about other smells in the car, heres what i like to do: Open the windows and cruise about 110 mph (or whatever speed you like ^_^,). and when you get where ur goin, take that "new car smell" spray (thats what i like) or coconut smell (ive found those two work best). Roll up the windows, put the vents on high on recirculate, and douse the hell outa the carpet under the passenger side dash (where it gets the air it recirculates). Also spritz a few on the seats and the headliner. I smoke, and if you got in my 240 the only thing that would give it away would be a pack in my console. Honest to god.

Alright i already threw the trunk mat / back seat cover and used dog shampoo on the seats. then closed my car up with 12 "new car smell" little trees. smells a lot better, but you can still smell rotten barbeque.
