Need help buying a S13 240SX please give me some advice :)
Alright, I've practically decided on going with a S13 (1991+) for a summer project car, and keep my spec v as a winter only/daily driver thing.
I just have a few questions, although I won't be starting until later next spring/early next summer, 240s are rare in my area so it'll take a lil bit of searching and looking for one.
Now, is ABS and Super HICAS worth it? Should I look for one with these things? I've heard both yes and no on both of them.
With ABS alot of people say I won't need it espically when I'm upgrading to bigger rotors, and diffrent calipers. Also that the ABS systems from 10 years ago arn't good, espically when compared to the 4 wheel/4 sensor ABS system on my Spec V.
Some people say Super HICAS is good some people say bad. Some Say good, all I know is this is like is sorta like a 4 wheel steering system, that uses lat forces, speeds, and alot of other factors to turn the rear wheels up to 1 degree...but is it good or bad?
Hopefully I'll be in one next year (I have my mind set on a S13 or another car, but which is EVEN harder to find, but the end result will be similar for pricing for the end project), but it all depends on Canada's 15 year import law, and the supply of other cars I'm looking at (some which might be imported from Japan) and the prices of those other cars.

First off it is going to be VERY RARE to find a Hicas 240 but hey you will never know, i have a Hicas 240 with abs... in my opinion i love it... car feels safer when taking turns are higher speeds, and as far as drifting the car, i have never felt any difference drifting my hicas and a non hicas 240...abd has saved my life many many times, but hell its up to you... my hicas model happened to come with LSD too, but that was only added option just because yours is hicas doesnt mean it definitely has LSD...now when you say summer project car?? anything to do with sr20?? because if in fact you do have a hicas 240, you will need a hicas pump or you will need to buy a hicas clip, hehe lucky me my buddy gave me a hicas pump from his work...but yeah either way hicas or non you cant go wrong, enjoy the 240 !!!
Well I plan to do SR20DET drop, get a Qualife LSD, suspension suspension, S15 front end conversion (and acctually there IS a 240SX w/HICAS + ABS forsale in my city right now, but it's a lil more than I wanna dish out) the works
but before I do any of that, and purchase, I need to price out how much this whole project will cost me, because it might be cheaper just to import a 15 year old car from japan into Canada

wow lol hicas 240, is it clean?? i bought mine for 3,000 a good while ago before sr's werent as popular, its in PERFECT shape, but hey man you will get some extra props on the hicas model since it is "rare" but all up to you...
the 240SX is going for like $6200 Canadian, then with mods, that I want to do it'll be past 15K US easy.
Although I plan to do this over a 2 year process, 6200 Canadian is too much for a car that I'm gonna rip out the engine, breaks and suspension for
Even if it is clean, and I don't want to start it til later next spring/summer because winter is almost here and I'd have to pay to have it stored somewhere.
But for 15K US, and With Canadian Car import laws I can get a 15 year old R32 GTR for 12K US :/ Which might be the better deal (but it scares me that I won't know the condition of the car or engine, until it arrives here, and parts are gonna be hard to come by)

Thats a very unique car....I think it all depends what the main use of the vehicle will be...i.e. drifting, racing, etc, you call it a "project" car ???? My personal opinion is too look at the general condition of the 240, like engine, paint and drivetrain/body.... It wont do you any good to have the car with all those options if it falls apart on you a year later. Or it might also cost you more for the repairs. Get the cleanest 240 you can find, thats my personal opinion.....good luck, Bro!
hmmm...what kind of car would it be? manily an auto x car, track car, even maybe drift (which could be possible) but that isn't sluggish in the 1/4 mile either.
I just got pricing on R32 GTRs the grand total with taxes and everything seems to be 12thousand Canadian from japan for a car that has around 60000KM on the engine
(which is CLEAN for a 15 year old car) So I may reconcider that instead, since I could do that through a company.

There's acctually a company that's gonna be importing them (they're located in Alberta) Since they won't be street legal til next summer/fall, you will have to wait (that R32 is probally in illegally)
GTRs will start at 12 thousand CANADIAN (that includes EVERYTHING, except for insurance fees)
Other skyline R32s will start at like 7500 Canadian (remember this includes duty, shipping, taxes, etc)

my hicas model happened to come with LSD too, but that was only added option just because yours is hicas doesnt mean it definitely has LSD
