Neon Light Wiring
Neon Light Wiring
I recently have been adding alot of lighting to my car like LED window washers, and just some other stuff to my car. I've gotten pretty good at it and everything looks perfessionally done. But now I'm having a problem.
I was in the mall today and I found a neon sign that I had to buy. I knew it was for mounting in your room somewhere, but I want to put it in my car. I took it apart to were it's just the neon light and two copper wires. I figured as in basic wiring you just hook power to power, and ground to ground. So. to test it out, I hooked up a solenoid to it, but it didn't light up or anything at all, I didn't even get shocked. I'm guessing you have to wire it a different way?
I want to hook it to a solenoid, then to a toggle switch.
If someone actually knows anything about wiring neon lights, please reply.
Thanks
(BTW, I think there should be a wiring forum added to the technical discussion group)

Please remove your LED washer nozzles, and please stop trying to make your car into a light parade. Neon lights are rediculous and a waste of money. I do not ever want to see an s14 that looks like a christmas tree. BTW, could you please post pictures of your car?
Dude, I liked neon lights when I was 16... why not do something more worthwhile with the money? Start up a savings account - every time you get a stupid idea like neon lights, figure out how much they'd cost and set aside that much money in your savings account. Before you know it, you'll have enough money to afford something not-stupid like an SR20.

He already said he's not going rice on us. And anyways, it's his car, he can do what he likes to it. He's just looking for some help. Look up neon wiring on google or something. Do you still have the transformer or whatever? I know that's needed to get power to light.

Neon lights are rice, there is no way around it. LED window washer nozzles are rice. Underglow neon lights are rice. Interior neon lights are rice. Strobe/blinking headlights are rice. Neon lights are ugly and rice. I don't like using the term rice, but it's the term used to describe a car that is modified in poor taste.
Most of the lights and **** were free. say what you wish, I have no problem with the lighting. I don't have any neon in my car, I just wanted to mount this one thing because I like it.
As far as people saying that lights are rice, keep crying, doesn't bother me none. I'm not spending all my money on lights, I've been saving up for what I want to do under the hood.
Also, I didn't ask for any critizism, I just wanted a simple tutorial, but whatever.
