noob question

i don't know if this is the right place to post this, but i don't know where else to post it.

okay, so. im going to buy an old 240 this summer. i know i want to do a sr20 swap, and i'll probably buy the full engine kit thing: ecu, intercooler, tranny, engine(duh), and whatever else it comes with.

what else will i need? im trying to make something i can keep for a while and drift and whatnot. i know suspension, LSD, tires and sways and such, but do you guys have any suggestions?

sorry i'm sure this has been posted before, but im a noob to this place, so all help is appreciated

thanks.

they dont usually come with intercoolers, you dont need anything to drift... lsd comes first, then upgrades after that, learing how to drift is more important... SEARCH!

you'll find a running 240 for less than an sr20 swap though.

Buy a running 240, learn with that, don't swap the engine until your comfortable with handling the KA, when your ready and feel like you really need the extra power then swap. If you dive right in and try to be super drift king right away, your gonna wreck or blow **** up.

If you have the money and buy the front clip, you won't need anything else~ the front clip will have everything from the A pillar forward + the transmission.

just another kid with a dream... you should wait to ask questions like this until you acually have a 240 in your possession.

man you guys are rough lol. I was on here for a little while before I had my 240 to. But I agree on getting a front clip. Thats basically the "kit" that your looking for. But I ALSO agree that you shouldn't do that until you have learned to handle the stock KA, cuz like they say, you'll FSU if you jump right in a 240 with an sr20 swap. Good luck! Oh and by the way, I'm only 17 also.

concentrate on getting a running 240, get the "gotta get SR and be super de-dooper cool" **** out of your head, like I said, you'll blow it up or kill yourself trying to be super dorifto

haha... yeah really.. my car still surprises me with how much power the KA has... I don't think I could handle much more right now lol.. and i've had 240's for a couple years now... that's why i'm doing my suspension and brakes first.. engine is last.

what you guys are saying makes total sense, i was going for the sr20 right off the bat because i was going to buy a 240 roller and a sr20 swap and try to save money. but now that i think about it, it probably would be cheaper to buy a running ka powered 240 and turbo it, rather than going all out before i even knew how to drive a 240.

i've almost got enough money saved up so i was just going on here to get some questions answered.

i had some scary sheist happen the other day which scared me into getting a stock 240 rather than a sr20 powered. i have a celica right now and i was going on this windy road. there was this idiotic squirrel that ran in front of me and stopped, i slammed on the brakes, through natural reaction. well i don't know how, but i managed to get my rear end out and basically into a "drift" position, and since the celica is fwd, man i was screwed. i somehow saved it but DAMN that sheist is scary. going sideways is totally different when it actaully happens. i think it might be different if i was trying to drift, because i would be expecting it, but still, i guarantee im gonna freak out my first time out.

so yea, stock 240 it is. thanks for ur help
