Oil Change Help

Can anyone post pics of how to do an oil change step by step on an S14 with pics and diagrams. I never did an oil change all by myself and I would love to learn how.

Hmmm... Why dont you just bring it to a shop to do it? I mean if you want to do it yourself then good luck.

The reason

Hmmm... Why dont you just bring it to a shop to do it? I mean if you want to do it yourself then good luck.
The whole reason that I want to do it myself is because I don't want to pay some shop a ridiculous amount of money to do it for me. While Im changing the oil I want to replace the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gaskets. Otherwise If I take it to the shop they said the whole job will cost like 700 dollars! So can anyone help me with some pics?

Umm.. All you have to do is buy a oil filter, drain the oil pan, replace the filter, then fill her up from the engine oil place on the valve cover. 2-3 quarts sounds about right. The valve cover gasket is very easy to change on the S13. All you do is take the bolts off of the valve cover then take the gasket out and replace it. Now for the oil pan gasket, I hear that the S14 doesnt have a like gasket gasket, but a like seal. How many miles are on your car?

i hope you don't do your own oil changes.

get the motor warmed up a little so the oil can flow more easily.
jack up the front of the car, or use ramps. (i find ramps to be the most convenient things when it comes to basic things like oil changes.)
get something to drain your oil into.
get under your car, undo the oil drain plug (i forget what size)
take off the oil fill cap on the valve cover to help the oil drain.
make sure you let as much oil drain out as you possibly can.
when i have time i leave my car sitting on the ramps for 15-20min.
(just a little bit of bad oil can make a lot of good oil go bad on contact.)
from the passenger side of the car, reach down and remove the oil filter. you will probably need an oil filter wrench.
(K&N oil filters are supposed to have a 1" nut on the end of it so you don't need a filter socket.)
get your new filter, rub some new oil on the filter seal and install.
hand tightening is enough
(Fram filters have that grip on the end of the filter so your oily hands dont slip)
get under your car, put the drain plug back in. you're probably supposed to torque it, but whatever. go with what you feel.
fill 4 quarts. put the cap on and you're good to go.

i use Z32 TT oil filter. its bigger, flows better and filters better.
if you decide to use the same, you will want to account for the extra oil capacity. its not a large amount, but atleast i think you should.

sorry, no pictures. besides. a slide show of an oil change would be pretty boring.
