Old Tymer with a question
Wow, I haven't been on Club240 in a while, I guess life really will grab you by the ***** sometimes.
Oh well.
Here's my question.
I have a 1990 240sx, as alot of you already know. I have a 1992 front bumper, as a lot of you already know .
My car was recently involved in a conflict with a retainer wall. As a lot of you already know. HAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously though,
I need new fenders, new headlight assemblies and a new front bumper reienforcment bar. Now heres my thing, I noticed that when I slapped the new bumper on, there was a serious gap between the front bumper and the hood.
Also, the headlights, hood and fenders didn't seem to align properly with the new front bumper.
I was just wondering if there are any differences in measurements between the 1990 240sx and the 1992? Asthetically they seem similar. But what's the difference between the two when it comes to the hood, headlights, and fenders? Do I have to buy the fenders for a 1992, or can I use the fenders from a 1990? Same story with the headlights and hood. Do those have to be replaced with 1992 parts as well?
I ask this because, I am presented with a delima. Should I stay with my ORIGINAL plan of keeping my clean JDM 180sx and make the 240 look like a good looking 240? Or should I just scrap the idea and give her a new face with a S13 conversion? Both are going to cost me dearly now, because the S13 kit is around 700 bucks, while the JDM 180 kit is around 750.
Which one do you think will turn heads more? A clean JDM 180sx with a simple kit?
OR
A clean JDM Sil-80 with a simple kit?
I appreciate the help and hopefully, as always in the past, I can get some good insight.
I EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU RAINE, LORD KNOWS YOU DON'T COMMUNICATE WITH ANYONE AT ANY OTHER TIME! SHEESH!
Lates,
-Dave

I have a 1992 front end on my car( hood fenders, lights, ect... You will have you adjust it just a little. I dont know why but you do.
I'm missing the bar that goes across the top of the bumper that runs parallel with the hood, so there is a small gap like what you describe.
The only difference in part numbers is for the front bumper.

i would go for the 180 look. i think i read somewhere that you have been to japan and i know that there are way to many sil-80's over there but not so much in the states. you will probably be noticed more with a sil80 conversion here in the states but i think that the 180 looks much cleaner (it flows better). i just returned from okinawa a few months ago and i brought back alot of stuff and my plan is to go 180 style. keep it real peace
