For people who want to do swaps...

My 250mile shake down... What was done .. CA18DET swap and Front end conversion..

This is to let all potencial swapers that your work is not done as soon as you turn the keys and here ignition from your swap.

Day 1 celibration motor is running.
Day 2 manifold starts tunning cherry red
Day 3 figgered out the motor was running very lean white build up on plugs
Day 4-5 check why, order and installed new Fuel pump.
Day 6 problem solved
Day 7 running to rich Do'h
Day 8 smoke.. turbo seal leaking oil blue smoke.. plan for new turbo so let it smoke for now

Days 9-12 front end conversion
Day 13 anoying and terrible squilling sound pops up.. New belt to tight??...

Day 18 belt still squeeling load too load. problem altinator pull.. called up my suppliers no one sells just a pully how nice...
Day 19 sorce a used altinator
Day 20 Conversion light bulbs start blowing, headlight gose, got new ones

Day 22 Fog light blows

Today, no foglight, irritating squeeking sound, blue smoke and ECU that dosn't know what RPM it is at after 5500rpms

Taking it back to the shop to try to fix everything that poped up in the 250mile shake down..

Reason i post this, everyone thinks a swap is done once it's in, you better have enough money left after your swap is done to work out all the gremlines that will pop up in the first few 100 miles.

Remember these motors are old and used.

250 mile price tag of things that need to fixed or replaced including turbo, due to leaky seals.. about $800 in just MIST stuff and T28 turbo which i can get for 500. Might be more then 800, i need a fuel pressure regulator and air fuel controler.

In Summary Kids, DO swap your motors (especially yourself) because this is what building cars is all about............if there were no headaches there would be no fun.

But once you get everything going smooth, its freakin sweet

Missing the point here, It was ment to be heads up to swap people. IT dosn't matter if a shop or you do the work your self.. you better leave a decent amount of cash for whats gonna popup after a few hundred miles.

I love my car, it hauls, but it can go alot faster once everything is A ok
