picked up my 1st 240sx today

Picked up my 240sx last night it is a 1989 coupe 5sp, heres the problems ive ran into so far:

HUD and speedo dont show up. it filckered and came on for liek 3 minutes.

driving on the highway the sunroof came un attach in the front and was directing wind in to my car like a scoop but managed to get it down and put it into the slid back position.

pulled into my driveway and the headlights wouldnt go down, so i researched how to put them down manually and i did it. go to start the car up and battery is dead

poped the hood and see 3 fuses are missing the (N&P 30A. 30A ignishion(sp) coil, anti skid 30A and anti skid 20A) could someone inform me on what that could do?

the vent only goes 1 speed max. theres no dash lights other than the RPM gauge and the warning lights.

the keys he gave me only start the ingishion(sp) and dont lock/unlock the doors???

windshield wipers dont move can hear the motor going but no movement of the whipers

the car is in physically excellent condition has those problems listed above. drove fine ample power for its age and that it was neglected. managed to pick it up for 700$ cnd and drove it home that night.

what can i do to fix thease problems.?

Thanks,
Kyle

Congrats on the new 240...God, where to start....I bet if you search through all the topics on the forum...you might find something...My MPH gauge likes to flicker a lot, too...why? Not sure...I've replaced everything that goes to it except for the gauge assembly itself.

Good luck on the new 240!

Wow...for that price sounds like a good deal. Anywho, search around for HUD and you will find your answer for that.
Your headlight motor might be dead or dieing, check the wiring to make sure there isnt anything wrong with it..and the fuse (if there is one)
If i were you id buy those fuses ASAP, i think they might be for the ABS but im not sure..
Your ganna have to get a locksmith to make some extra keys for you, hell i dont have any key at all for my kar!!! it sux
Something could be holding the Wipers from moving
Well i answered most of ur questions..hope i answered them right haha

ok, heres what i fixed

bolted up the sunroof, but now it jams halfway adn the pulley's/motor is creating alot of slack

got one wiper working the other hinge is rusted out i need to fabricate another mount with some sheetmetal

the oil was extremely black... what causes it to go that color aside from being neglected and not being changed for over 3000km what factors contribute to it.

HUD is still messed gonna tear off the dash soon and take a look

power steering is really creaky also, need new bushings soon ill post up pictures tommorow

when i looked under thw car when i jacked it up there was 6ish connections disconnected to the transmission? whats with that?

ill post what what ever else i can think of with the pictures tommorow.

Thanks,
Kyle

Well, as far as the oil being black. My mechanic always used to tell me it's black 'cause it's doing it's job; perhaps for too long. The oil takes dirt and other contaminents out of the path of the moving parts. Changing it pulls out most of those with the oil. Anyways, as far as it being totally black, that's just because it's been in there too long and become saturated with particles of crap, but it should usually be darker than new.

Good luck and congrats on the purchase!
