That sucks dude. I hate hearing the horror stories of shady dealers, especially since I intend to put heaps of money into my car in the years to come. It seems to be increasingly difficult to find trustworthy parts/ engine providers as of late.
Just keep complaining to whomever will listen... the vendor, the BBB, the Club240 forum readers, etc. If you can prove that he intentionally sold you a defective product, you might actually have a case... but regardless, I hope it all works out for you!

Thats why anytime you buy something that expensive, it really does pay to spend a couple hundred more on a reputable company. Sucks you got screwed over, are you going to try a civil suit or something?
idk why i didnt take the coil packs out when i first got it i know i should have but i was stupid an trusted him when he said he had it all done for me, an ya im trying to tell and inform as many ppl i can about his bad business. and im not letting it go im trying to do something but i got the motoe 4 months ago before i did the swap an hes just saying that i did it an theres only a 30 day waranty
In all honesty. I do not blame him for not giving you anything back. You had it for 4 months & it CAME WITH a 30 day warranty. Hell, most places barely offer a start-up guarantee.
Why should he be to blame for....
1. You not throughly inspecting the engine upon delivery.
2. You waited 4 months..a full 3 months after the warranty expired, to say anything. Granted you didnt have it installed in time. But that is NO fault of the seller.
Alot of places sell engines like what you got. It is up to the buyer to inform the seller if anything is wrong. If there is a warranty, the have to honor it.
You didnt get shafted, you simply waited to long. NOW, you are trying to shaft the seller...so who is the bad guy?

idk where u buy your engines but they should always offer a warranty an not come blown, an i know i waited a wile but i work 7 days a week from 9 to 10 plus i had to save up to do the swap an i told him that an he said its all ready just put it on a stand untill u got the time, its not the first time he has done this i come to find out, that has happen to a ton of ppl and hes known for doing it, an not everyone swaps it the day they get it.
so pleasr tell me again how im trying to sckrew him when he said he personaly inspected it himself, either this has happen to u alot or ur doing it to cuz idk about u but i work hard for things i want. its just out of respect to be a good shop.

One thing I've learned about buying imported engines, never trust what the seller says. On the day of pick up, you should have made them do a compression test on all cylinders and check all essentials prior to paying them anything. I'd say 60-70% of the time, they will say "I've checked it" and they never touch the motor at all. Checking compression, plugs and wires should be a must on day of pick up. Not only that, but putting a used imported engine in without checking head gasket, water pump, power steering (if you keep it) AC, etc. is not a smart idea. Never treat a used imported motor like its brand new.
wait, you took 4 months to put in a engine with a 1 month warranty. dont even bother taking it to small claims court, he just has to bring up the fact that he gave you a one month warranty and "baliff, take this dumbass away, he shud have just turbo'd his KA"
this is rediculous, shut up and just take it to court. The **** you say on this forum can be taken to court and adjusted to whatever related, I'm not joking. Don't bring legal matters onto the board.
Henry's right, I'd be extremley careful about what you say on a public forum. It can come back to bite you.
On the other hand, I wouldnt waste your time taking it to court. Heres why, for one, the product you purchased is for "off-road" use only. Meaning that this motor is not legal to be used as a replacement engine in any street legal vehicle. Second, he gave you a warranty. The court will tell you that you should have brought up any and all issues with the product at that time regardless of what was going on (meaning work, personal things, etc.) The seller put forth the effort to provide you the chance to test the parts and either request for replacement or repair.
This is a huge up hill battle for you, but hey, its your money. Just dont get your hopes up about winning as I do see the court in favor of the seller. Yes I know all this because I studied administration of justice and had to be the "legal" person for my friend's shop. It's a huge up hill battle for the plaintiff because of the fact that you have to prove that liability was with the seller. From what you have already told us, its not going to be easy on you.
