Prices of 240's these days...

Well my 240 is becoming too much of a money pit for me, and thought i would look up the prices of some newer ones, namely a stock kouki. I was suprised to see how much a 10 year old BASE model stock car with slight body damage (normal dings and such) was selling for these days. And it had 180k on the odometer! So i was wondering, when i sell my 240 this summer, how much should i try to ask for it? Its a 91 fastback. Its black, with cloth interior, sunroof, pw, 5spd with B&M short shifter. I did some custom interior work, mostly i repainted a few nasty looking items and covered the door panel inserts where the old suede/tweed (depending on model) used to sit, and covered the glove box. um... As far as mechanical, it has no emissions systems or cat. It has a pacesetter exhaust, DC headers, AEM intake, a tranny with only 40k on it, and a motor that im rebuilding right now. Pretty much the only things that are wrong with it are worn TC rods, a slightly leaky PS unit, and the AC could use some freon, though it does cool. What do you think itll be worth? I was thinking about asking about 3500 for it, but with the prices these days, i think could ask 4k no problem. What do you guys think? Oh and BTW, it has wires run for a stereo system, and sound deadener on the doors and in the trunk. Im just removing one of my amps and my subs.

honestly i'd say put it in the paper for 5000 and your phone will ring like crazy. if you say 4000firm, people feel like they are getting ripped off, but if you set it at 5000 and they knock you down to 4500, they think they won. just remember, EVERYBODY wants one and SOMEONE will buy it.

orly? wow. i never knew holding on to it for so long would make it worth that much! lol. I bought it back in like 2002... for $875. Sat in my yard for a few years because i was 14 when i got it. Got my license and had a diff car by then, and had some offers from a buddy of mine who blew his 240 up. he wanted to give me like $1500 for it. I thought about it, then i was like hell no, they dont make cars like this anymore! heh. I guess its one of those cars you never really expect to go up in value as much as they have. ****, I bet i could put an ad in for 5500 and let em knock me down and make em think theyre getting a great deal... or advertise it on 240 forums where ppl know what they want.

I miss rwd... but i dont miss driving in what feels to me like a sardine can. It was cool at first... until other ppl wanted to ride with me... and im not exaclty short and skinny... So imagine someone 5'10" and 275lbs having to push their seat foreward to drive, cuz his dumbass friend didnt tell him his girlfriend was coming too... plus the whole 2 door sportscar thing is getting old. I just want something i can drive around in for a few years, getting decent mileage, that wont tempt me to spend every last bit of my hard earned cash on mods. I would keep it just as a project car... but im broke.

ya know, i really considered going toward an infiniti i30 or j30 whatever it is or one of the lexus RWD cars... but theyre outrageously expensive to buy, modify, and maintain. To put it simple, they are money pits. Also the fact that they havent been produced in years and are as old as my 240 is, really doesnt make much sense in my book. I could drive my 240, which will be like brand new as far as drivetrain, or i could switch off for something equally old with high miles on it that for all i know in 2 years could pull the same bull**** on me. It just doesnt work for me. What i really want is something relatively inexpensive that i dont have to **** with constantly. Also, what i really like about the 4th and 5th gen maximas is that they are big enough to fit ppl in, have plenty of power, and are available with manual transmissions. The stick is a requirement.

Naaa.... people on 240 forums know how much they are really worth, you need to find the kid that just turned 16, loves F+F T.D. and has a rich daddy, they are the best, cuz, like, they JUST have to have it so they can total it a week later.

I know ... and thats why im not getting an accord. They are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Like a 96 sells for over 7k. the car is 10 years old... and sells for 7k. Not even 240's with an (unmodded) sr swap in decent shape sell for that much.
