If you wanna stay remotely legal with the car, keep the KA and boost. If you don't mind being illegal get an SR or RB, they are both illegal and there is no way around it. IMO if you could get an STI, I'd go for an RB25 powered 240...

And please stay on the topic of the thread and do not hijack or I will clost this, thanks.

I read an article in Modified about an rb26 swap and that thing was sweet! That was my initial idea but thinking of the cost and the added weight just got me away from it. The motor isn't too bad pricewise, but I'm worried about the possinle mounting cost of the project if I go that route.

the RB25 would take less, check this site out for mount and driveshaft kits for the swap. I would suggest driving the 240 with the KA for awhile, learn with that and when your ready for an upgrade then swap to something else.

As I said earlier I'm almost positive that you have to do emissions tests as part of inspection in Travis County...

The rb26 doesn't look too bad. You have to swap the oil pan for an rb25 (the front differential is housed within the 26's il pan). Other than that, there aren't many differences than the rb25. Here in Travis County, they are bucking down on emissions testing (as of October 1st). I think y'all are right though, I need to drive the KA and get used to the way the car performs before completely changing it. It's just that I don't want to buy the car if I can't do the swap legally. I will be getting rid of the car I have now in February, in the meantime I will research the title thing and see if I would be able to make the sr20det or the rb26dett legal here. I will keep you guys posted and really do appreciate all the feedback and ideas you provide! I might even be asking technical questions later down the road once my project is underway. I'm out-

I agree the ks24de-t can be cheaper and is legalish. However, how many sr20det's have you smoked with your ka24de-t, if you don't have one you probably shouldn't be tlaking about how great they ar and better then a sr20det.
