Questions on sr20

Hi i am new to 240's. I dirve a 95 alty right now. I want to buy a 240 with the sr20 swap. My frined is selling one for 6,250 with the black top t28 and bunch other mods. Its in a 92 240. The engines got around 60K. Can i get 180K out of the sr20 with good matness(sp)? Also is the sr20 swap legal in GA? I know they only do the sniffer test. Will it pass? Thanks for your info i am new to 240's but i really want to get one my altys is not sporty enough and a pain in the *** to get any good times out of it. Dont get me wrong i love it! just want another car too.
Thanks for your info.

technically, the SR swap is illegal anywhere in the US. here, any swap with an engine that wasn't originally produced stock with the USDM version of the car is deemed illegal unless you have some special title like hot rod people do. but to start off, you should really search the forums first. you'd probably get more information anyway.
-good luck to ya

He is asking too much, unless there are a bunch of mods you didn't list. The Sr20 will pass emissions if it's running like it should. Then again, I don't know whats done to the motor.

ummm... i hate to tell you this but it really doesn't matter even if your car passes emissions...

it will still fail if the mechanic realizes that it isn't the stock engine... This swap is 100% [B] illegal [B] for street use. Now that doesn't mean that it won't get a sticker.... Most of the time people are stupid and therefore don't realize it's a different engine so if it passes emissions your ok. Or even if it fails emissions there are ways to get around that...

All of this is simply to say technically any Certified Car Inspection shop can fail your car in a heartbeat. Doesn't mean it will happen, but just so you know.
