Quick Question
Quick Question
Hey everyone, im kinda new around here I always read hardly ever post.. I'm trying to decide between a 90 & a 92 240SX (I noticed the main differnce is the look of the front end as the 92 looks nicer IMO.. but is there any other differnces between these cars and what does everyone think? 90, or 92?
the front end thing really doesnt bother me cuz sooner or later id be doin a front end conversion

90:
92:
that's about all i can think of. hope that helps.
- SOHC
- older
- cheaper
- "pig nose" bumper
92:
- DOHC
- HUD available (coupe)
- HICAS/vlsd available (hatch)
- leather seating availble (on LE models, i think)
- newer
- likely more expensive
- non-"pignose" bumper
that's about all i can think of. hope that helps.
well the thing with the SOHC or DOHC doesnt really matter to me im not looking to stay stock engine... i'd like to transplant a SR20DET + turbo and run some nice #'s.. but overall I do like the 92 better, I think I might get the 92 .. hmmmm end of the month
Personaly I like the looks of the 1990 better but the 1992 has the DOHC engine so it has a little more power. Personaly I think both engines kind of suck compared to the SR20's and the RB's. If I were you I would rather save my money and purchase the 1990 and then take the money that you saved and put it towards an SR20 or an RB engine. That's my opinion! Either way when you are purchasing a 240sx no matter what year you are purchasing check the rust situation on the frame, underbody and panels that's the best advice I can give to you. Good luck.
Thanks! I have a pretty good mechanic and wont buy a car without letting him check it out first
I was thinking that... buy a 90 for 2500, or a 92 for 4900, (prices in my local trader) if i buy the 90 i instantly have 2400 $ that I can put into a engine, or a front conversion... thats why I dont really care about the looks or engine, SR20 + front end conversion solves all my problems lol

2500 for a 90 n 4900 for a 92??

my friend got a 92 for $700 sure it was crashed in the front but that wouldnt matter since ur doin the conversion
look around those prices are way too expensive

I think you're definitely going to be better off with the 92. I drive a 90 and I love it. I wouldn't trade my car in for anything. At the same time though, the 92 is newer and probably in better condition. Plus its just an improvement on everything I love in the 90.
P.S. People on the forums seem to really hate the "pig nose" but I think it's gorgeous.
Good luck,
Matt

Yeah whats wrong with the pig nose!
but anyways if I had the choice Id go with the 92 because less trouble when swaping the engine.
Also that is too much money. I met someone that sold their 91 for 600 USD. Running and descent condition body/interior.
