Quick Question about rear quarter panels and side skirts

I am looking at buying an '89 240 for really cheap. The only bad thing is that is has rust on the rear quarter panels. If I were to get side skirts would I be able to take the quarter panels off? If not I am going to get them welded.

if im not mistaken, the 240sx has a unibody rear end, which means the rear quarters are welded to th trunk tub and the rear frame...
