I have a 89 240sx and in the morning my timing chain makes a rattling noise and i know there are threads about this but when i called a mechanic shop by my house they tried to tell me that the 89 240sx's didnt have a timing chain tensioner. So im posting this to get some real answers. What do i need to do to make this noise go away? remove the guides?

yes. one on the top, another on the right side (when facing the engine from the front of the car). good opportunity to paint your valve cover

 

LOL....hell ya, well i just talked to this guy and i think im gonna get a ca18det. i heard there pretty good engines.

 

^^ yea they are. i was about to get one. but then i just got a strong urge to go KA-t.

word of advice.

the motor is pretty old. change all the gaskets. water pump and oil pump while the motor is out. also check for shaft play in the old t25. other then that its a little motor that packs a punch. . also make sure ur good on the internet with locating parts for it. it will not be easy at first. also utilize sites like ********.com, you can get most of the genereal parts from the s12's and some other nissans.
