remove guage cluster in 89

I am having trouble removing the area around the guage cluster. it seem that the steering wheel adjuster is in the way. Can someone tell me how to get it off so i can get to the guage cluser?? a picture diagram would be nice.

Did you drop the steering column? It's held on by 2 nuts and two bolts under the column. Everything will drop down allowing you much more room to remove the cluster. You will have to remove the plastic piece under the steering wheel to get to them. It's held on by a couple of nuts and just leave it hanging by the hood release.

You can do it without taking off the steering column, but its a little harder to take out the cluster like that. Me and my friend have done it quite a few times..but I dont know how to explain it well.

Pull it down from the top. Give it a good yank & it will pop right out.

how about .....dont do it!

If you are going to take them apart for mods, i.e. overlays, etc. dont matter how careful you are they are going to break. Take it from me. My speedmeter never work right never again, my tach was ruined, the needle broke. And Im very careful and meticulous about these things. If you are still want to do it, drop the steering wheel. Any other way and you will need the hands of a contorsionist midget to yank it off......
