Rev to 3000 and hear clicking??

Everytime I am in neutral and rev right at 3000 letting off gas pedal or not I hear like clicking noises under my feet. Even when changing gears at 3000 it does it to.Any idea? My brother said it is prob heat sensor or whatever?

I will bet you a thousand dollars it's your exhaust hitting the bottom of the car. I have an aftermarket exhaust and it does that from time to time. 3k is like the "sweet spot" for the vibrations to just hit the car.

What do you mean hitting bottom of car? Does it need to be welded or bolted in? The noise is right right behind the left front tire. The only thing I have on the car is a muffler btw

the exhaust can hit against the floor only if its bigger than stock,,, you may have to bang the floor in.. what you are hearing is the heat shielding.. get that crap outta there. all you need is an 10mm with an extention and maybe a swivel to take it down

ryguy 12-15-2007 08:57 AM

looks like I owe you a thousand dollars lol, yeah the exhaust cant hit up there.

DO you know what tools i might need or would I haft to take it to a shop?

ryguy 12-15-2007 09:12 AM

I think its like just a 10mm wrench. You can do it yourself no problem. Honestly its incredibly easy, you wont need to take it to a shop.

Ehh last question...I looked in my owners manual and I cant find exactly where its at but I think its underneath like the pedals somewhere?

Thats the heat shield on the exhaust manifold, I cant remember if theres one on the downpipe or not and I cant find it in the FSM right now.

sweet thanks but part im not getting is if i tighten that up, if it even needs to be, I dont see hwo that would stop the rattling even though it must be coming from that. But to me it more sounds like its grinding or something.

energy0uth 12-15-2007 11:57 PM

grinding and clicking are two dif things...but go for adjusting heat shielding first or have someone sit in your car and rev while you listen and look

ryguy 12-16-2007 12:05 AM

or rev it yourself while looking around the engine bay, but yeah just ditch the heatshield and if that dont work we'll go from there.

Biggamehit 12-16-2007 05:52 AM

remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold and under the car you will be happy.. to remove the manifold shield without taking you egr off, you will need some tin cutter and the hand strength of a man lol.... easy stuff... bro stay away from shops... learn your craft.

as you were

sweet will do....Also, I had my dad stand by it and he said it sounded like it was comming from the other side of motor where the headers are.

The header is the exhaust, on the drivers side. Do you mean the intake plenum? Like, the part of the intake after the throttle body?
