that so weird
how come you dont see more of them
also i heard that you have to go through some sort of special inspection process and a stricter emissions test

apperanly certain things need to be modified to get it on the road
am i totally incorrect here?
i really would liketo get one but chances are the MVA will make it really diffucult

You need to get a rollcage, since the doors arent reinforced, and you need the glass replaced, cause its not shatter preoof, and yes it may need the emissions sytem modified, but Im not positive, and shipping is quite expensive. I am going to try and take my sil back to the states, looks like it will cost around 3000-4000 dollars, which to me is worth it in the long run.

ummm, yes and no. what i think happened here was that there was confusion about whether the subject had to deal with a usdm 240SX being converted to RHD, or a JDM 180SX/silvia being imported and made u.s. legal. there are no (factory) RHD 240's. if someone were to convert it, i don't think that anything special would be needed to make it legal (since it's already a usdm car). the silvia/180SX are the jdm versions of the usdm 240SX (the silvia being the 240 coupe and the 180SX being the 240 fastback; however, the silvia had fixed/non-pop up lights; this applies to S13's). the 200SX was the european/australian market 240's. the international models (i.e., non usdm) would require the modifications. for more info and history on the silvia/180SX/200SX/(partially) 240SX, check out this site:

thanks for clairfying i was getting quite confused

In your guys opinion........ is it worth the dough to get a silvia or a 180sx since it already has a great motor in it and shell out to get it approved to drive here or just get a 240sx and swap the motor

i have always wanted a RHD car..... its kind of a secret obsession but not if its gonna waste alot of my money.........

what do you guys think????

depending on the importation and legalizing costs (i've heard anywhere from $8000 to $25000 but i don't know for certain), it might be easier to just grab a front clip, swap the motor, and (provided the clip has the dash and console and stuff) perform an RHD swap. however, if u desire the actual jdm car more than anything, then u'd be willing to fork over whatever bucks necessary to get it here, i suppose...

i'm sure there's info out there about the RHD conversion. i can't say for sure, cuz i haven't looked.

i'm not sure on the airbags. i'm under the impression (most likely false) that airbags didn't debut until the S14. maybe they had them in the S13 kouki? i have no clue as to what it would take to get an airbag into a car that didn't come with one. can one of our more learned 240 scholars help us out here?

It will cost a pretty penny to get airbags into a car that hasnt had any. My sisters camry had the airbags all ready used..and if i remember right cost about a grand or so to put them back in and in working order. I may be wrong though

ok what about an aftermarket RHD conversion kit?? is this something on the market that anyone knows about

i was looking and most front clips are only the engine and engine components.... no cluster or steering wheels

seems like it would not tooooo toooooo hard though just very time consuming

anyone know of a kit??
