S14 OEM cluster QUESTION

I will be soon be swapping in an SR20, so I had a question about the stock US cluster.

Clearly, the redline on the KA24 is lower (about 6400, versus 7500 for SR20)....

Obviously, the mechanism that senses the RPMs can work for any RPM level....however, does anyone know if the stock cluster is visually calibrated above 6400?

I.E. If I am revving it at 7500 rpm with the SR, will the stock cluster's needle accurately point to 7500?

I only ask because it seems that there would be no reason to calibrate it above 6400 in the first place.

Thanks

not to say it wont work, because im sure it will.

i put a s13 red topin my s14 and it seems like the rpm's are off. if i set it up for the correct idle when the car redlines the tach is at like 5000 but my stewart warner GUS gauge is at 7500
so yeah, this is a good question

when I had my SR on my S13, I swapped out the tach only.

It did read 7500 redline, and was accurate.

Only thing is you have to splice it with the old harness, no biggie...takes like 30mins.
