Searched, but didn't find.. KA24DE to KA24DE swap

Sounds kinda funny to say it, but thats what I'm doing. Just locked up the DE that is in my 240 wednesday. Going to pick up my spare engine next week to drop into the car.

Now the question is, are there any difficult spots, tips, tricks, or anything special I need to know to do the direct replacement swap?

Also, I only want to unhook electrical connections that are needed to be unhooked to do the swap. I am looking to get this entire thing swapped in a day or night.

Myself i had the engine out of my 240 and put it back in it was sitting on bricks but the only thing is to get the whole motor mount etc off and the under suspension (control arms) etc all have to be lined up perfectly jambing stuff takes you longer than just figuring out whats wrong in the first place. This whole task should not take you more than 1/2 a day or so. For the wiring i cant help you because we cheated and didnt disconnect stuff. i had to replace the motor mount so it was a bit hard in that sence. Make sure everything is tightened up with a torque wrench (w/e needs to be tightened) not sure if its all the same for s13 to s14 but it shouldnt be to hard get a few helping hands and it be done much faster. hope it goes well good luck man.

Which year is the new engine you are getting and what year is your car? More specifically which OBD is your car and which is the engine?

S14 to an S14. KA24DE to KA24DE. My car is OBD2. Both cars were 95's.

Someone on another board brought it up, does it matter if one engine came from an Auto and not a 5-speed? Currently, I'm a 5-speed setup, but the engine I'm going to be putting back into my car is from an Auto. I didn't think there were any differences aside from the transmission.

There won't be any differences, bolt up your tranny and **** and it will fit fine. If they are both OBD2 it should pretty much be just a straight forward swap.

Ok, so in worst case my good engine is OBD1, what are the differences going to be? Would I just be able to swap over the good parts from the bad engine to keep it OBD2?

I believe most of the differences are on the intake mani. You would be able to just swap it off your old engine to your new engine.

Good good. I'm liking everything that I'm hearing so far. I've got this same thread posted on 2 other boards.

So far, no speciality tools. Just have to watch a few things while pulling.
