I'm in this exact same situation. Coilovers are better if you're going to track the car. For street use I've heard KYB AGX with S Techs is pretty good. I need information too!

im sporting the agx/s tech combo with cartune strut tower bars. no complaints here. i planned for lil track duty when i got it. two years later, i have yet to gone to a track event at all. it has enough firmness for sporty handling. soft enough for pot holes. i rode in some cars with coilovers from various companies, too stiff for my taste. get coilovers if you intend for serious track duty. but if youre not planning to, stick with the springs/shock. something about buying coilovers the same price as my car doesnt sound right... also buying "racing/competition parts" for a street driven car is kinda awkward. im sure some ppl track their cars or run them hard and could very well need a setup as such. it all depends on what you do with your car and how you use it. "to eahc his/her own" i guess

Coilovers....if you worried about stiffness, get Flex. I hear they are not too harsh...

Never used shock spring combo on my car before, went straight to Tein Flex's. No regrets, wouldn't have it any other way.

Flex for anything involving REAL daily driving.

I'm not talking about taking 12/10kg coilovers on the street and automatically it's good just because you're "daily driving" it. That's like saying "my Top Fuel dragster is a daily driver" just because I drove it in circles on my cul de sac.

True 'daily driver' parts are better than stock but still comfortable, as opposed to track only stuff that was designed to be used on a track only - not on some bone stock 1989 coupe =P

Coilovers all the way. IMO it's either spend the little more now, or end up buying shocks/struts and then buying coilovers later. I feel bandwagonish in this thread, but going with the FLEX's as well. (I'm in love with the EDFC)

And try to Wheels/Suspension forum you may find your answers there

Well i dont know if i can save up to like 1000 dollars, i only have enough for shocks and springs. So im thinking it would be best for me to just buy shocks and springs. I mean, im not gonna be going to track a lot. and shocks and springs i can daily drive and such. So yeah, if anyone thinks something else or has any other suggustion, please let me know. thanks for replying.

Well Flex are around $1200ish so yeah - seems as if budget is a concern, therefore I'd suggest you go shock and spring combo.

Suspension techniques springs and sway bars, KYB Gr-2's. Suspension Techniques best springs on the market(IMO). Currently riding on oem shocks and struts (120,000mi +) with ST springs, ride quality is just like stock or better (smooth, not bumpy at all) and have always have awesome traction/grip. Drop is 1.3"-1.5" no more, no rubbing tires and no scraping aero parts. These springs will save your shocks/struts, tires, aero parts. Great Mod.

With Kyb Gr-2's you have a solid suspension setup for around $400-$500, that can be driven daily.

GR-2's won't blow unless you're running harder springs like RS-R Race or some custom Eibach ProKits

GR-2's won't blow unless you slam them (more than 2" drop).
They definately won't blow on Suspension Techniques springs unless you are driving the hell out of them.

I got my s14 from it's first owner. When I got it it had 27,000mi. in 12/99. I am at 120,000mi and I have never replaced oem shocks. First mods I did were intake, exhaust and Suspension techniques springs. Ride and handling are better than stock, still.
