So how should I build my car... discussion...

I totaled my 95 maxima last night. I think its totaled. I have a 91 240sx in my driveway that is the PERFECT project car. blown headgasket, no carpet or sound deadening, no wing, no sunroof, straight frame, no rust, blablabla.

So now I'm starting to think about how I want to build this 240 with the money from the maxima. I have a friend who says a good friend of his can hook it up with an SR for like 1k

lets imagine I have 3k to work with from there.
*warning, all my car knowledge has been sitting stagnant in my brain for over a year. I'm probably gonna say some dumb stuff, and some wrong stuff. forgive me, correct me, and lets move on*

For 3k I'd imagine that I could get....
Stereo and 4 speakers (old system is totally shot, I dont need anything amazing but I like music)
New Tires (I'm thinking Falken Azenis Sport tires, because the current ones have tread but they're OOOOOOOLD as hell)
Some S14 seats (these are the better ones, right? I dont remember....)
Flat Black paintjob
New "little stuff" stuff like fluids, wiper blades, fuel and air filters (K&N maybe)
3.5 inch custom downpipe
QTEC exhaust cutout (http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/index.html)
And I'm thinking maybe a polyurethane bushing kit? maybe?

Is that a little too optimistic? or did I miss anything important? This will be my daily driver BTW.

Anyways after that initial stuff Im thinkin I'll slowly over the summer add the following:
Lowering springs
Piggyback computer to raise boost
Cheapo injectors with more flow, something stock from another car
Sway bars
Wider wheels (might be a WHILE, or soon if I keep tires that are on it now)
Tint

*edit*
I believe the car allready has a 255lph walbro fuel pump.

so.... let me have it!

nah $3k:

$1000= SR
3" dp, cat back = $600 (3.5" is overkill imho)
$1000=good coilovers
$400=Some ZR tires

but in reality...err...the real world. Youll spend the extra $2k on getting a $1k SR20 running and installed.

well try working with me a little more....

I dont want to bother with the catback, I'd rather save the money, get more power, and get the cutout. Also theres no reason not to go for 3.5 it wont cost me much more and will help the engine breathe at high rpms in the future when it gets more power. I see no reason not to do it, it should be worth the extra 100.

Also I dont really need coilovers... The 240 allready handles good enough for me, and I think that the stiffening from the bushings and sway bars, and the bigger tires and a 1 1/2 inch drop, will have it handling more than I need it to. Rather save the money.

And can I really get a set of falken azenis sports for 400? that sounds like a good deal....

UPDATE

Good news. Maxima is NOT totaled. We will be replacing a few body panels, getting it new wheels, new front left suspension, and then selling it.

The 240, will then be getting the royal treatment. Right now we are in the midst of a headgasket swap.... I cant do **** by myself so its prettymuch we work when my friend glen (crioten if hes ever been on here) can come help.
Anyways I'll drive the KA 240 while working on the maxima, then Im gonna be getting an SR from a friend of glens for about 1k... yeah I know, u all think its gonna be ****ed, but hes rebuilding it right now and it wont be, it'll just need an ecu and an IC so thats awesome.
So then we're thinkin we'll have about 1-2k to play with, so now I'm thinkin-
Falken Azenis Sports
Stereo and 2 Speakers (but where to mount? where to mount.....)
Downpipe
Cutout

But I also just got a job caddying and I should be making about 50 bucks a match for the beginning of the summer, and then by july I should be able to double bag for about 100 a match, so 100 a day, and if I build up the endurance to do 2 matches a day thats 200 a day when I can get 2 games, but I wont allways be able to so probably like 500 a week. So... Yeah, ya know.
So my plan is, by the time I go to college in september, to also be rockin:

2 more speakers (total of 4) and a small sub
lowering springs
S14 seats
poly bushings
K&N filter
Strut tower bars
piggyback computer to raise boost a couple psi
tint

Sound good to u guys? think its feasable?
Jeez Im gonna be doing ALOT of work between now and september.... HG, fixing the maxima, SR swap, and all that stuff. What a way to get into wrenching....
