I was told that the motor that is in my car was out of a 95 240sx but i am not sure if the motor was just cleaned really good or if it really did come out of a 95. so how would i tell if i have a 95 or 92 to get the right plugs for. I have taken it to the nissan deals and they said that my vin is a imported vin and that they couldn't match it up in their system."the vin on the car not the motor" the nissan dealership said that to ind out where the motor came from i would need to take it to a machine shop to have it looked at.. any ideas anyone... helllllp

You could try calling nissan motorsports (310) 538 2610 they should be able to help you out with that. But being an import motor you have to remember that the specs from a Japan motor are different from the specs in a North american version, althoe both are built in Japan the specs are still different due to different emission standars and safety regulations, so your engine might be from a 1995 but it's not the same engine as the north American version. Good luck bro!

no i didn't say that. I said that the VIN on the CAR didn't match for a us spec nissan. i had them check it twice for me. I never said anything about the motor not coming from the us. I said that nissan told me that the only way to tell what year the motor is from was to take it to a michine shop but you said that it will have 2 or 3 bolts to tell the difference between them.

I never said that. All Im saying is that there could be a difference in the ignition system between the Domestic and export version of the engine. They are both made in Japan but sometimes there are differences between the version they use there (Domestic) and the version they send to North America (Export). Many cars built in Japan have the same motors there as they do here but sometimes there are little differences here and there.

So, you are saying that there is a JDM version of our engine. That's the point I think you're trying to make.
"They are both made in Japan but sometimes there are differences between the version they use there (Domestic) and the version they send to North America (Export)."
It appears that that is the point you're trying to make.
