Steering seems weird

Ok I went to go test drive this 240 today and when I was driving the steering seemed kind of weird. I would move the steering wheel to left a little bit but i still would be going straight, it is the same when I turn it to the right. In other words the steering felt loose. It wasn't tight like many other cars I have drove, where the response is quick. I was just wondering if this is something to be worried about or is it normal. Please Help.

That's not normal. My steering has less than 1/4" of play right an left. That steering just needs a rebuild.

either rebuild the steering column, or it could be your tie end rods...but im thinking its the latter, it sounds pretty bad

steerin column? How do you rebuild that? It's a coupling with a shaft.
I would say you need a new rack & pinion OR rack bushings.
While it's on the ground. Turn the wheel slightly, have someone observe the shaft where it meets the rack. If the rack moves. The "column" is fine.
Jack the car up( use stands once up). Get under neath the car & grab alold of the inner tierod & try to move them up/down & side to side( check for ANY movement).
Next grab the wheel & hold it tight. Have someone slightly move the steering whell & see if the tire moves at all.
These are just a few of the tests to check the rack & pinion.
Or you can just take it to Midas or a similar place & have them check it for free.
