Supposed to happen? Tranny Problem
Supposed to happen? Tranny Problem
Here's the deal:
I got my s14 back from aamco today after some pretty serious tranny work (bearings, gaskets, synchro's, brass rings, seals, 3-4 gear fork, and reverse gear - all replaced). Anyway I was really happy to finally have my car back, but I noticed while driving it that it felt a lot different. "thats obvious" you might say, "you just had a buncha crap replaced". And I noticed that when I punched the accel, I didn't get the same torque I felt before it went into the shop. Simply said - it just didnt feel as "fast".
I'd like to know what's goin on down there, if anybody knows. Do I need to drive it for a while longer, and everything will sort out? The AAMCO guy said when I hit 500 miles, I should take it back to them for a test of some sort. But why does it feel like this?

Well crap....that sucks........The whole point in having a KA is torque........i've boon wanting to get my Trans rebuilt for a while now, but after hearing a loss in torque, i dont really know if i want to......how much was it to get the Trans rebuilt?
Well I didn't have it rebuilt per say. He just replaced quite a few things. The total was about 16-1700. That put a serious dent in my wallet, and I owe my parents a buncha money now too.
. But does anybody know why its feeling like this? I drove it today and it actually felt better. Maybe it just needs to loosen up a bit?

But still, I feel your pain... 1700 is a lot of cash. Whats the warranty on the parts and labor? Make sure they dont rip u off after break in period.

Anyways Saru, double check and make sure they dont rip u off after parts are broken in.

One more thing... after a couple hundred miles and it still feels off, go back in and flat out tell em, something is not right and either they fix it or u get ur $ back. Doesnt really have to "break in" per-se. If it came from the factory with a boat load of torque when it was brand new, then even after something this major has been done, should be like new. In this case, should be brand spankin new after all that work.
