Question Thermostats

I got a CA18DET ,but this question helps all motors and is the same for all motors. MY CA thermostat is set at 195 degrees. I want to run colder I have a 180 degree thermostat, I also had a 160degree thermostat. Would dropping the temp 15 degrees work well or would the motor not reach peak HP. And I'm figgering 30degrees is to cold ? how would it work with the ECU etc.. I know cooler temp usely boosts power, that's the principle behind nitrous and the point of using a bigger radiator.

probably really cold if it was always open...

what's wrong with 195 degrees? I would say 180 would be safe... but you don't want the engine too cold or the oil isn't happy?

well the oil i can always a heavyer weight oil 40HD vs the 10-30 i use now that solves the temp viscocity problem. HD 40 is 40weight cold and hot
