Tonight my s14 died...

I was going around 100 on the freeway then i eased off the gas. When i pushed the gas again i heard this funny sound. It sounded like the fan or timing chain, a bit of both. The oil light was flickering a few times too. But the thing is that it only this sound when i was pushing gas. Then later on even though i wasn't pushing gas, the noise got even louder and then my motor just died.

When i open the hood, there was zero oil in my dipstick. I did had a oil leak problem before though, thinking it was my headgasket, i was gonna change it tomorrow too.

Damn, this bites, had the car for like a month too...

at least its only the motor tho... you didn't crash or anything. I've heard low milage KA's aren't too expensive...

maybe its an excuse for an SR swap, if you wanna go that route. good luck with whatever you do man!

I'm still kind of shocked it happened. I'm on my spring break too. yay for spring break

I'm praying its not my motor though, but all my gearhead friends that was with me said most likely it is.

I hate to say it but no oil most likly means your engine is gone for sure

If you didn't have any oil wouldnt there be tons of smoke and the temp guage going through the roof thus leading to your engine seizing?

not necessarily cause if he hit something (at 100mph) and damaged/punched a hole in the oil pan it would have completely emptied the oil pan and the car could just have seized in which case a new engine would be needed.

a seized engine is when the pistons run to hot eventually melting isnt it, hence the smoke and stuff

seized is just that... there may or may not be any smoke... if the bearings welded to the crank then there would be very little smoke... even if the piston rings welded themselves to the walls of the block there could still be very little smoke... with no oil on the dipstick i would assume the bearings and the rings ahve fused with other parts of the motor... and yes in most cases the damage is so bad that a new motor is needed...

I dunno what to do. I got some prices.
900 for motor swap only.
2500-3000 for a sr swap.

My car is auto, and everyone saids that its not worth having an motor and tranny swap together, they all want me to do a SR. But thats a bit pricey, though i wouldn't mind doing it, just a money thing.

if money is an issue just fix the engine and change the transmission to a 5 speed. (my opinion) If you got the cash an sr would be nice.
