Top Speed of 240sx

My friend is saying when the top speed of the 95-96 240sx...like 115mph.. the engine just shuts off??? i dont think so.. i know you can buy like other speedometer dials that show up to 180. so u dont have governor. is this true?

Top speed of a stock 240 is 115..the governor wont let u do any more then that. Its all in the ECU(and in the trans i THINK), if u get a modded ECU u can go above 115. The governor cuts fuel to the engine so u cant go anymore. We have covered this a couple times..

You can get speed/rev meters to change how high your RPM's will go. But you gain the risk of blowing your engine a hell of a lot faster when you do that.

if you life a rev limiter yes you can blow your engine..but by lifting the speed limiter you will not do any harm to the engine.....there are alot of vehicles that are speed limited...hell even the Hyabusa has a speed limiter...set at 180something...lift it and the bike can almost pull 200 with the right rider...anyway...pull the speed limiter.

My 93 went up to 136 on the highway (drove next to a civic that goes past 110, lol), and it's not dead. RPM's were still in the 4k range, but she got up past 120 no sweat.

i have an automatic and a 5 speed s13 body 240SXs and the speedometer goes to 110mph but i went way past that and reached top speed and my car jus stayed at top speed and didnt decelerate or anything.. jus ran fine... and my friend has the digital speedometer and he reached about 130mph... i know some of my friends 240s cant get to that but i havent heard of any goin faster than 130 on a stock KA... i wonder how the 91-93 240s performed brand new back in the early 90s... has anyway had one for that long?

is there a limiter on the SR20DET also?

if there is is it the same as the KA(115mph)?

and would i take my ECU to a shop to get it modified or what would I do to lift the limiter? both rev limiter and speed limiter

just to let u guys know, i dont know much bout limiters and what they do, i know the speed limiter limits speed, but does the rev limit how hard or high u rev it?

All nissans..or 98% of the nissans have speed/rev limiters, yes even skylines do(i think)Modding a ECU is the way i know of getting rid of the limiters..there might be another way though

actually the hayabusa's top speed regardless of the govener is 190mph... but if you add a turbo or something i'm sure you'll get way higher then that...
