Tougher then i thought

As most of u guys know im doin a RB20 swap on my 89 240. Its been on postpone for a month and now im really working on it..or trying to. Got the auto to manual complete..power steering is modified..wiring almost complete, and the most important part is the hardest Yesterday for about 3 hours i was trying to get the damn engine to fit! And last weekend i spent about a hour trying to fit it..nothing. Still 3-5 inches off the mounts. ill post sum pics. Anyways fitting the engine in is A LOT harder then i thought and im getting exhausted from it..tired..frustrated, it sux. If i cant get it to fit today then i dont know wut ima do, abandon the project and just get a CA or KA or keep on trying to get the RB in. Had to vent a lil of my frustration guys

Thx Catharsis ill check that out today. Ive asked a few people that have done the swap and they say it shouldnt be so hard..but that dropping the car on the engine is the easiest way.

Thats from dropping the engine in the car, not the car on the engine, my jacks dont go high enough for the engine and tranny to slide in so i dont know if i can even do that ima try and do a tranny and engine from the top.

hyjynx. are you using the stock KA mounts? it looks like you are. go to http://mckinneymotorsports.com/. they pretty much pioneered the RB swap and have adapter mounts for sale that will fit the RB in properly. It'll also keep your shifter from being off center too.

yea im using the stock KA mounts, people have done it like this before so its possible..i still dont see HOW but it could be done. If Mckinney finally comes out with RB20 mounts then ill buy em..i dont really wanan buy em from -UH-. The more i try and get the engine to fit the more unlikely it seems And the more i wanna just get rid of it, but i cant...i must accomplish this! Custom mounts or not

BTW..today i got it the closest i ever have...4 inches away from the mounts thats the CLOSEST its ganna get from wut i see..the oil pan looks in place and the engine is basically hittin the firewall but it still isnt matching up...why me

get the mounts cause you won't have to do any cutting on the downpipe either. if i remember correctly, the downpipe is dangerously close to the steering column if you manage to get the stock mounts to work and it requires you to notch away at part of the flange

Actually guys i got good news and bad news. good news First, i found the solution to my problems (and its not mounts!) Very dumb me misunderstood the Cross-member to be the thing that mounts the trans to the car...But nooo i misunderstood and its sumthing totally different. Bad news, I junked the X-member along with the front clip so i dont even have one anymore..now i need to go searching for one. Well im glad i found the solution (hopefully) now i just need to get my hand on a X-member
BTW im ganna stick with stock mounts..i dont have the money to spend on mounts so i can live with a lil shaving here and there to properly fit it
