Well I check the fsm and your car is suppose to shift at like 12 mph for first gear or around there and that means your shifting at about like 20+. Definitely not good as I have seen it. I think it might be slipping. Time for a 5 speed swap man.

Not sure if you will be able to tell this but once you can feel it should be shifting do you feel it disengage to shift? Then it probably is just slipping. could be TPS (throttle position sensor) Maybe its just not reading your RPM's right, I think they go for 80 and change. Also could be a problem with the solenoids. Most likely though it is the TPS or another electronic sensor, your tranny should be fine. I bet you could take it in and get it fixed and new fluid for 120 or so.

wow.. thats not bad at all... its fun to drive man ... the car runs good... just the shifting pisses me off.. and for some reason i think thats why my gas goes out faster... well if its under 200 ill get it done before the year is up... i just hope it can hold together until then .... what do u mean by disengage to shift?

do you feel it searching for a gear or does it shift really crisp but just late. to make it more clear does it feel like it is trying to shift but can't find a gear or does it feel just like it did when the tranny was fine except it shifts later than usual? Hope that helps

I am pretty positive this is not a mechanical problem but I would try to get it serviced fairly soon, these types of problems usually lead to a lot of extra friction/heat, which is the death of auto tranny's.

unless one of your linkage's is messed up but I doubt that is the case.

nope it doesnt downshift on time either... it doesnt make any weired noises of any kind... it just revs really high and shifts at high rpms, and downshifts ok...

wouldn't a new torque converter cost some serious $$$? I know to rebuild my old camry tranny was 1500 and that was the cheapest place.

i was thinkin tourque converter cuz the tranny don't wana shift.
tourque converters aren't half as costly as a new rebuild. mabey a couple hundred bucks. even if he could find a used one with low documented miles. if he isn't leakin fluid then that could very well be the problem. people who drive auto's hard usually experiance shifting problems guz the gears get a little worn in the converter.

but we all know i make some wrong statements.
