trunk latch

alright i can use my trunk latch to open my trunk but it's a 2 man job. how do you tighten up the cable? do you think it could be the 2 hydraulic things on the sides of the trunk?

those have nothing to do with the latch, those are just hydraulic lifters to help lift + hold the latch.

I believe the cable might run under the body of the car, but i'm not positive. Check in the hatch or trunk (diddn't notice what you have) beneath the trunk lining.

the cable runs inside the cabin, youre gonna have to lift up the carpet, rear seat and passenger sdie interior plastic in the rear, also the trunk wall lining along the left to get it out. not sure if its possible to adjust them tho. but the hydraulic lifters seems to be the prob as the cars are over 10 yrs old. ive yet to replace mine but i saw some at autozone.

its just a pain in the *ss to lift up, not a whole lot you can do about it... be creatve and wire up some linear actuators to lift it when you pull the handle... i might do this...

oooo, I completely miss-understood that whole question.

Yeah, the lifters are old and shot. I really diddn't think someone would complain about having to lift the hatch up, LOL.
My hydraulic lifters are blown too, but I can open it no problem. lol, maybe you guys should get some more gym time in.

you can't "just" lift it. 9 times out of 10 when you pull the latch it falls and relocks the trunk before you have a chance to lift it.

figured it out. i moved the latch part in the trunk down to make it tighter so when you pull the latch it releases better. i don't know how to explain it but i got it workin.

yeah. i mean it doesn't lift up by itself but when i pull the latch you hear it pop. i can pull the latch shut the door and still open the trunk. before if you wanted in the trunk it took 2 people and you couldn't shut the door.

I have to open the hatch then shut the door. Doesn't bother me that much though.
