Question Turbo for a Ka24de or swap

Would I be able to get more horse-power with a stock Ka24de with a turbo or a stock silvia sawp?

You will get more torque from a Stock ka24e or De just by boosting at 10lbs... an sr will never come close to the torque that a ka will put out... Friend of mine dynoed with a stock KA24DE-T with a t3/t04e turbo at 14psi... did 344hp and 347lbs of torque

What would anyone say is the most hp you could get out of a naturally aspirated Ka24DE from 95' to 96'?

Not enough.

Just kidding. Basic bolt-ons, maybe 160 hp to the wheels. With a full race engine, you might swing 200, but I've never seen an N/A KA make close to that. Really, it's much cheaper to make power with a turbo. Slap $2000 at it, and make 250 pretty easily.

ya i've only seen one 200hp na kade and it was fully built with high compression pistons but theres nothing more you can do to it if you do high compression pistons.. best bet is to slap a turbo and but out at stock boost 220 or more.. .

If you can get more out of a ka with a turbo, then why do people always swap it with a with a sr?

well i can onyl think of 2 reason of the top of my head

1. its either really popular to do so

or

2. less hassle to work with compared to turboing a KA...if you do it wrong, say good bye to your engine

geeuz, we have this debate on the alty forums.

SR20DET 2.0L

KA24DE(T) 2.4L

people like the fact they can have a REAL JDM SR20DET motor in there 240's
The bad side is all parts are overseas ,so some stuff can get expensive.

the KA is USDM , you can find local block in junk yards from $300-600.
the KA is pretty much bullet proof on the bottom end expect the Pistons.

the SR came with a good amount plus it can handle boost but doesnt compare to the torque of a KA ..the KA isnt a rev happy motor.

My experince was my u13 altima boosted. Ive been in numerous SRs and KaDET.

Both motors are great.

Yeah, the extra .4 liters and the relatively flat baseline torque band is a nice thing to start with when you turbo it. It's a tough little engine. If done right, you can match an SR with less boost. It's a nice little underdog engine. Hell, if you don't believe me, I think Gushi is running a KA-T on his S13. I think imma turbo mine too, all in good time and when I have money though.

About how bad would you say the insurence of a stock 95-96 240 would be on a 16 year old if it were in my name? (off the topic of engine swaps)

uber high. I get 518 on my Fastback and I'm 18, driving for one year, no tickets, good student discount, and the car is under mom's name. Not to mention it's only liability.

i am wondering which route to take as well. so the ka doesn't rev as well? also is going with the ka-t typically cheaper or more expensive then the sr?
