Unsticking an uncooperative hatch
Unsticking an uncooperative hatch
I got my 240 with a hatch that's stuck closed about as good as can be. Today my friend and I tried WD-40 type stuff on it from the inside to get the workings to move more freely, and he jimmied at the mechanism with a screwdriver while I pushed down on the outside. No matter what we've done, it won't pop for the release handle, it won't open with the key. Looks like we may have to start stripping parts away to get to where we can see/solve the problem.
We're kind of stumped why it's being this *****y. The previous owner mentioned that the hatch weatherstripping might be leaky, but it just stormed here overnight, and there was no sign of water in the back.
Has anyone fixed something like this before? Tips would be appreciated.

Argh.. forget about that. Randomly wedged piece of hardware.
Got a better look at the latch from inside, and it is just stuck in an evil way.
What can I do about this?
