Unhappy US 240SX in Canada

I'm trying very hard to get a USDM 1989 240SX into Canada from the States. Now the car is on the blacklist for importation because:

"Vehicles equipped with passive restraints do not meet CMVSS 210, seat belt anchorage location requirements. Passive restraints are identified as either a motorized upper torso restraint or door mounted 3 point restraint."

"ACTIVE versus PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: The fact that a seat belt restraint system is considered to be active or passive does not in itself determine that vehicle’s admissibility or inadmissibility into Canada. What does determine its admissibility or inadmissibility is whether or not that vehicle meets Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 210 (seat belt anchorage location). Where a vehicle has been determined by its manufacturer as not meeting Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 210, that vehicle is not eligible for importation into Canada under any circumstances. Canadian legislation does not allow modifications to the seat belt anchorage system. The vehicle meets the Canadian standard at the time of manufacture or it is not eligible for importation into Canada. Passive restraint systems are identified as a motorized upper torso restraint or a door mounted 3 point restraint."

I've heard that if I got an aftermarket restraint system that is legal in both the US and Canada installed in the car I can bypass this little hiccup. Does anyone have any other tips, or know anything about the aftermarket harness idea? Any help would be EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks

Well I want this car in paticualar because I can pick it up for 1800 CDN and it has no front bodywork. It's cheap and it runs which is perfect for what I plan to use it for... and that's re-doing the entire car.

yeah seanliew, i'm from ABcars
you there too?

anyways.. I just checked out the import registries office and if you bring up a 240 from the US, you can't register the one w/ those automatic seatbelts. "passive restraint system".. street illegal in Canada.

But if the car doesn't have the power belts (I dunno, do some not have it?) would it be allowed into Canada?
