'Vert questions....

I'm looking around for the shell to start my project with. I am really trying to find a 'Vert if I can and will settle for a coupe if I cant get the 'Vert.

I have a few questions about the convertibles.

1. Did 'Verts come with manual transmissions? Everyone I've found so far is an Auto. I know the 94's were all Auto.

2. Did the cars come with covers for the retracted top? I know Mustangs had a snap on cover to protect the top while it is retracted and clean up the rear.

3. Are the trunk lids the same between the Coupe and 'Vert?

Thanks for your help!

I include a pic for reference for question 2.

I know this one is aftermarket, but the 2001-2004 had cheap ones stock I believe. (Atleast the one I got for Prom did)

Otherwise, thank you for the replies. I have about 4-6 months to decide what body style I'll use. Gonna be rebuilding a motor first.

Yes, they're all auto, but there are ones out there with 5 speed swaps.

YES, convertibles have a boot for the top when it's retracted. They're ****ing rare. I have mine, it snaps on.

Thank you for the replies everyone especially ryguy! Only other question is about weight. I've heard the 'Vert is heavier and is a weaker chassis. Can anyone give me the weights for the chassis' or even just how much heavier the 'Vert is? Also wondering what Nissan did to reinforce the Vert chassis. Sorry to bring up Mustangs again (seeing a pattern of reference points here? ), but Ford put subframe connectors under the body to get some (but not all) of the strength back to the 'Verts.

The vert is heavier, by at least 100lbs IIRC. To reinforce the chassis, Nissan (or ASC, who actually did the conversions) welded a pretty thick steel I-beam in between the rear shock towers for added rigidity. It's still not quite as stiff as the coupe, but there is added reinforcement.
