Weird noise comming out from the engine!!! help

I am driving a 1990 240sx. And this problem just started recently. The problem is when I press the gas up to 3000rpm or above there will be a loud wind like noise comming out from the engine no matter which gear I am on (even neutral). and I have never heard this noise before. is it possible that I am using oil that are too thin? ( I am using 10w-30)

well i have been quite confused on a similiar topic when i get past 55-60mph it makes a metal to metal contact/scrapping kind of noise sounds kind of like the pinging of a trains wheels against the track but its only at 55+ I also got a 90 240sx it dont do it at a certain rpm just those speeds I was guessing maybe somethin that has to do with the driveshaft but I dont know

Check to see if your clutch isn't slipping. Look at your RPM next time when you give it gas and if the needle is revving higher than it normaly would or the car would rev as if you are in neutral then you would have to replace the clutch. As far as the pinging noise go, i am assuming that you might be low on oil. I might not be right but just check and give us an update.

well the car still can run but having lower HP and torque while the cluch slip right? cuz I think that might be my problem. my car seems to have less HP and use more gas.

Just another questions then. How much would it usually cost to change the cluch including parts and labor and how long would it last?

well I am still not sure if it is the clutch or not cuz my car still runs well except for the loud fan noise. is it possible the wind noise is comming out from the clutch but not the fan clutch?

and is it hard to do the clutch fan by myself?

It could be the idler pulley bearing or the alternator.
