what octane should KA use 87 or 89?

poor children, The ka was made to run 87. Sometimes running too high of an octane can hurt your engine. The only time you need to run high octane is when you have the mods that require high octane(air/fuel controller, cams, high flow fuel injectore, etc) for a stock engine running a higher octane is only wasting your money. I guess 89 would be allright but that is up to the person.

I know i put 89 in mine but its an kade. I've just heard stories of people using higher octance than needed on stock engines and it cause pings and knocks. If the cap says premium then i would check the manual it should say a specfic octane rating or at least a range.

gas doesnt really matter....higher octane just means bigger bang. it doesnt give you more power it just burns better.....smoother ride.
if you really want to know the ka-e was made for 87-89 octane and the ka-de was made for a 91-95 octane but it really doesnt matter like i said it just burns better. if you live some were cold are on the highway alot its a good idea to run premuim if not then it just a waste....

I used 87 for more than 10k already and it's still pulling hard. The ECU is programmed to use either higher or lower octanes. Seriously though, if it's stock, just stick some good 87 in it.

who the f said that too high of an octane will CAUSE pinging???
your on crack or simpy mis-informed. It is NOT POSSIBLE for too high of an octane to cause pinging. It burns SLOWER and cleaner.
PINGING is caused by premature detonation.
Not being a dick, but lets not spread bs info.
Not saying 87 will hurt, but 91 or even 95 will not, and cannot hurt your motor. Lets be real guys.

well the crack i smoked was pretty damn good, hehe. As far as the way my post was written I only said I had heard stories I never stated a fact. The stories could have been that if your engine requires high octane and you use lower octane that will cause pings and knocks.

fact
higher octane burns slower and at a later point. this is why low octane will detonate under certain conditions such as forced induction. higher octane has nothing to do with performance. it does clean better though.
argue that...

Actually I have also heard from a Ford mechanic that if some cars(not Nissan) aren't made for high oct it will hurt your motor. I don't agree with the pingin story though. Low oct can cause pingin. Smokie700 never said what type of car. So maybe he was talkin about a car other than a 240.
