ok guyz i have 89' 240SX and under the engine bay is a black plastic piece that is dragging on the street when ever i drive. This piece is pretty big and i dont know what it is called or where i can buy it. im not sure if the dealer has them for cheap because my car is a 89'. help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
I dont know what it is called, or if it even has a name. But its just like a cover more or less to keep dirt and any other crap from getting into your engine bay, water, rocks, little kids, whatever. And its probably just loose, i would say duck tape it buddy, its not worth buyin a new one. I got a big hole in mine, tape did the trick
.
it's most likely the wheel well cover... you don't HAVE to replace them, but it keeps alot of crap out of your engine bay and looks sorta bad if it's not there.. they're like 90 bucks (forget if it's for one of the pair).
Yeah im also 240pimp,
I went to the dealer ship today and i approcahed then man and as i tried my best to explain what it was he knew what i was talking about. $86 he was asking for (damn might as well bend over and ask him to spell run) Do you guys think its worth it? i dunno if duct tape is going to help but i'll see if i can use it tommorow.

If it is not coming from the fender lining there is a plastic cover on the front of the engine bay.
I don't have my fenderliners and wish I did. Going offtrack leads to a great deal of **** in my fenders and doorjams.

Yeah, I just took about 9 high-heat quick ties and just punched some holes in the good parts of it and just tied it up. It shouldn't be too bad if you don't go offroad or drive it in winter when they are pouring salt.
I don't have it on either, I just spray water in the fender to clean out dirt when I wash my car. It's not a big problem to not have it. I would take it off asap or try to bolt it back on asap. I wouldn't want to drag it for a long time when I drive.
