Why no dual exhausts?

Back pressure issue? No room? Why is it that no 240's of any year have dual exhaust? Just curious, that's all. Thanks

hey somebody, correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't dual exhausts really only be applied to vehicles with two banks of cylinders (i.e. V block motors)? i'm thinking that any inline motor with "dual exhaust" only have a Y-pipe splitter coming off of the downpipe/cat. i believe with V block motors, you have two headers (or manifolds), or two "exhaust sides" to the motor. it's something like that...

exactly! Only V's should have dual exhaust to properly dispress all the pressure and fumes. If a Inline engine does the dual exahust mod then u will be loosing dramatic Torque and maybe even HP.

so your saying only v motor should have a duel exhaust but not a inline four like ours... its sound like a stupid question but if so how come the rx-7 / rx-8 have duel exhaust?

you cant compare anything on a rotary engine to a normal piston engine
and on arotary engine each of the 2 rotors has its own pipe.

ok so it a rotory motor but i though a duel exhaust is good if you got a let just say about 400 hp and if it is still not a good reason to get a duel exhaust then why did apexi came out with the duel n1 muffler for the 240 ... isn't it some what a duel exhaust? Im not trying to be a wise guy i just want to know what not to do with my car... i was thinking about get the duel n1 but if duel exhaust is bad for the car i might as well get the single n1

let me know

The dual n1 just has two mufflers. It still has only one pipe that goes to the header.

ok hmm let me dig up the pic and show you what i mean... well i cant find a good pic but here the one i found http://www.apexi-usa.com/exhausts_n1dual.asp

as you can see or try to see its has one pipe spliting into to to each canister... its not like the one you see under the rx7 with the y pipe... but the concept is still the same and my question still remain the same... if duel exhaust is designed for v6 or whatever v engine + rotory why did apexi designed a duel n1 for the inline 4, I thought that duel exhaust is good for high powered hp say around 400+

Hes a honda guy what do you expect HEHE. Probably thinks those accords have true duals, when its 2-1-2 piping . And like sonic said, its a Y pipe your accords have

On to the duel exhaust topic... thanx for clearing that up sonic... but im still going to spell my dual with an e just to do it wrong.. lol so i can go with the "duel" n1 exhaust and i should be fine... thats all i wanted to know
