remove a/c, interior/sound deadening, powersteering, emissions, scv's. then you can switch to electric fan over clutch fan. thats about it.

I would like to know the same things. Short of turbo charging (that expensive, especially on an older KA that would need to be rebuilt first), what are some possibilities?

On my list so far are:
- Cold air intake
- K&N air filter

And now that you've mentioned it:
- "Hollywood" muffler (maybe)

Any other ideas?

1993coupe pretty much said it all, you should look into those and perhaps even looking into porting/polishing your intake manifold. theres a writeup right here http://www.club240.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39204

If you have the courage to, you could even look into doing the same for your head.

i've seen three sites that claim that for every 17lbs-19lbs you "gain" 1hp.

Yay, math time

OK, so a 1993 S13 weighs 1224 KGs
A stock KA24DE has 155 HP
On that basis, each horsepower has to move 7.9 KGs or 17.4 lbs.

Each horsepower in an S14 like mine has to lug around 8.1 KGs (17.8 lbs)

Out of curiosity, how much weight could I shave off by removing the rear seats from an S14?

What does anyone here think of those "electric superchargers"?

They are garbage!!!!
If you ever look at Thomas Knight's Boosthead pages, you can see that it takes up to at least three car batteries, and a centrifugal blower (upto 18PSI).
This means an upgraded alternator as well.
What needs to be done to make the system better and more efficient is DC/AC inverter.
Those electric motor super chargers won't even be efficient enough to make 3PSI of boost which the engine can make naturally at peek RPM's.
For a bolt in application at $1700 Thomas Knight has a deal of a system.
