THANKS ! ! !

that Could, be my problem. . . i emailed and asked if the ODOMETER still turned, (kept track of the mileage).

Because mine doens't work, neither the speedometer (doesn't light up) or the ODOMETER (doesn't keep track of miles).

hopefully he answers...

or if anyone else knows . . . does the odometer still work with a bad capacitor.

FYI : He just replied! ! ! that was super fast!

The odometer DID RUN

so, thats not my problem! i was looking forward to doing that soldering! man!

for the capacitor to be the faulty, the HUD doesn't come on, and the odometer DOES run

any other ideas?

For the odometer to turn, wouldnt the car have to know how fast it's going? My bet is on the speed sensor.

I have read all sorts of different versions, some it only turns once per 30miles. some continue running, some don't run.

Please someone second that ^ and ill change the speed sensor and do a follow up!

Speed Sensor

It will be the speed sensor that is your problem.

If you have no Odometer movement and no speedo movement that indicates a faulty speed sensor - However most cars will throw a CEL (check engine light) when the speed sensor is faulty.

i might be late answering but, nope it wouldn't have to run. about 4 months ago my car was idling for about 15 min. i had reset the trip odometer to see if what you asked would happen because the speed would read form 0mph-20mph. the needle would just jump while the car was parked. after some time the trip odometer read about 1/4 mile.

Couldn't that mean that the speed sensor was broken in a way that it sends the wrong information instead of just being dead? Or did you find the problem?

i replaced the sensor and nothing happened the problem persisted. i just gave up on it and until last week it read 15mph more than the actual speed. for some reason it just started working on it's own. i don't really care because i know how fast i'm going depending on what gear i 'm in and the rpms.
for example 3rd gear @ 3k is 35mph
