I heard auto's don't have the limiter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.

DRiften 08-20-2004 11:45 AM

well they dont have a rev limiter, but they have a speed governor. if you bypass the speedsensor.. on AUTO.. your car wont change gears. and will runny crappy if you change gears manually. (L > 2 > D) so the speed sensor trick onlly works on manual trannies.

Dounveeme 08-30-2004 03:49 PM

oh i have a rev limiter ive hit it on more then one ocassion shifting it manually but ive had it to about 127mph now. never hit a speed governor.

DRiften 08-30-2004 04:54 PM

... so did you bypass the governor.. or... did you hit 127 with everything stock.. damn. cant understand what you sayin bro.

Dounveeme 09-01-2004 04:16 PM

i havent touched the car's governor. the car is a semi stock 89 sohc auto coupe. ive got the silvia front end with the turbo bumper so i ran custom intake to the opening in the bumper from the stock airbox with a k&n air cleaner. it also has a shaved head and ive got the timing advanced. other then that it has no go fast goodies and ive hit 127. im just asking why i havent hit a governor.

DRiften 09-01-2004 09:18 PM

its different for automatics. i believe they dont have a governor.
but how you know that you were going 127mph? doesnt the speedometer end at 110mph? and maybe theres some space for like 5 more miles. but you did 127? is the gauge going of scale a lot? or it stops at a certain speed. hmm. or i am mistaken.

fyi. never drove or had an auto 240. got no clue about them.

ArticDragon 09-02-2004 09:03 AM

You can tell speed by the RPMs.

DRiften 09-03-2004 12:32 PM

true. but wont the speedometer go offsclale a lot? i mean it does end at 110. so it just stops, but the rpms go up right?

Gnarly Dragon 09-06-2004 04:42 PM

i am posative that automatics have no speed governer

DRiften 09-08-2004 10:24 AM

ok. thank you for being positive :)

james_s14 09-09-2004 12:46 AM

i wonder how fast my car will go,,ill have to try this

Dounveeme 09-09-2004 03:38 PM

i know i was doing 127 cuz i have a working digital speedo with hud.

so if i swap my auto over to a 5 speed that means i still wont have the governor correct?

DRiften 09-09-2004 11:46 PM

if you do the steps that i told at the begining of the thread.

you will be able to go as fast as you car can handle :)

Dori_ultra_king 09-13-2004 03:10 AM

awsome stuff dude i should try that but i think im going to do that after i get an sr20 you know for more speed and power. might as well dont plan on going that fast unless i want to race a cop... lol

DRiften 09-13-2004 10:05 AM

ok. sure. but its not like its gonna take you 2 days to do it.

take you 30 min max. its really fun, even with the KA.. :)
