ka-t idle problem and smoke

ka-t idle problem and smoke

Ok. I just recently put my ka24et together. Got it on the road ran pretty decent but lean. My wastegate vaccum messed up and cause me to push 15 psi and blow my head gasket. Well i replaced it and now it doesnt idle right. It will hold idle right below 1k but its like its missing or something. Also when i drive it white smoke comes out of the exhaust and ccv. I just have downpipe to high flow cat right now. No exhaust. Any help would be appreciated....

before you put the engine back together did you have a machine shop resurface the head or have any other type of machine work done?

also did you reuse the old head bolts or new and were they torqued properly?

yea we need more info... to me sounds like you make have tweaked the Head gasket

no machine work done on the head, I did have the crank turned. old head bolts torqued at 90 ft/lbs. i was thinking it was something with the 02 sensor being so close to open air or I dont have the safc set right

whats your in and out settings on the safc etc..

did you at lease check the head and block to make sure that they were still square? 90ft/lbs is way too much if you would have said 90 degrees then that would have been right, iirc it should be between 85-90 degrees or in the 55-60 ft/lbs range depending on what tool was used.

i doubt it's o2 related because if anything the car would run rich and then you'd have black smoke. it may just be condensation cause by the colder weather but i suspect that you don't have a good seal between your head and engine block.
