I have my S13 Hatchback for about a year and I want to turbo my car now. I did suspension and brake upgrade already. My S13 is mainly for drifting. Since this is my first turbo car and first time to do this, please let me know if you have any suggestions/tips.

My goal for this S13: I want to have around 250-280WHP with responsive acceleration. I am interested in good response and low-end torque for drifting. I just want a typical good setup. Since I don't plan on rebuilding my KA24DE, I will run 8-10 psi boost. I did a compression test on my engine. The result is 180 psi for all 4 cylinders.

Originally, I want to get Garrett GT2860RS turbo. However, it seems like S15 OEM turbo will be cheaper and easier to setup (can use SR20DET bolt-ons).

1) Will my setup work? Am I missing anything? I am looking for a complete list.
2) What are other suggestions? Please no engine swaps. I just want to build my KA-T.

All the work will be done by me and my friend. The only thing I need from a welder is to drill/weld the bung for turbo oil return on the oil pan. I will road tune my car with Nistune myself, and I am still reading a lot of things for ECU tuning.

Please contribute. I think this will help alot of new people who wants to turbo their 240SX.

your getting the nistune chip, who is tuning for you? Also where are you gonna tap into for your coolant lines?

 

I will tune my own car with Nistune. The coolant lines from throttle body will be used.

Do I really need JGS Vacuum Block? How do you guys run the vacuum lines? I know I need vacuum for BOV and boost gauge. I am confused now.

 

you can use Ts but the block is a better option. you need vacuum for wasegate, BOV, Oil Catch Can, Boost Gauge, FPR, and brake booster.

 

good stuff, you put in you web surfing time... however i would cut my headache in half and visit KA-T.org for someones discarded setup. Most of the setups are fully built and have not been installed.


about your compression.. yes they are all the same across but 180 is a bit high. the range is 151 ( low ) 179 ( hi) may want to swap those pistons rings and if you are going to do that... swap the pistons also brother. They are the weakest point of the NA KA.

also on that turbo. if your going to buy s15 turbo new its not worth it. its about $700-800 and you can get a way better turbo then that for a little more.

like my GT2871r is about $1000-1100 and its a way better turbo then the s15 turbo

 

Do you guys think getting a TurboXS Knocklite is agood idea? Some said it's unless because the knock light is too sensitive, and can't tell if they have true engine knock or not.

 

you can adjust the sensitivity. I am not sure if its going to help you out at all. if you start getting knock.... its prob too late to do anything about it.

 

For the oil feed/return, I think I'll do this:
