My Ka Build Thread

so it starts here, this will be an ongoing thread until this KA is fully built and started up
------------------------------

July 07

motor number 3 has been out for a while.. removed head to discover what i knew was wrong, bad exhaust valves. I discovered that the pistons were in great shape from the top, ill remove them soon to see how the ringlands looks etc.. overall im happy with the condition of this motor. I beat the hell out of it for a year in NA form and then i boosted it for a year and it did very well.

Upon quick naked visual inspection, the cylinders were completely dry and had no oil or coolant in them and no cracks

Headgasket is in awesome shape

now for the head

Normal carbon deposits

excessive build up and scared exhaust valves

i see the lack of propper air/fuel tuning and timing control probably took a toll on the valves.
what are the plans for this? mild build/rebuild?

im not worried about that bro lol i got 2 years out of it.. if that happen so be it.. even with a proper tune **** happens over time

im doing a full forged build bro. and ill be going with tec3 all ends covered.. remember i was running 8psi all that jazz about timing this and that was irrelevant to my setup....

I don't mean to come off like that but all over people just keep saying what they think is wrong.. i simply drive my car hard and things will break no matter what you do... F1 and nascar blow **** up lol with the most ultimate tunes you can get.

people really think to hard about turbo setups.

keep me updated, looking forward to it.

I plan to go turbo soon, goal of 400whp minimum setup (haha) and I intend to do a bottom and head build up... just not sure on turbo yet... I can only run 93 octane so it kind of poses problems for me, not race gas. It's doable but, at the same time I want low end... can't have it all

no.... everything that i ever broken could have been done in NA form.. i never had detonation problems. which is the most major thing you have to worry about with boost.

alright got down to pulling the pistons out and boy were they Figgidy ****ed... no wonder my compression was so jacked and it took about 3 min to start sometimes lol

I didn't spin a bearing on this motor, but was very close to it

cly number 2 and 3

ringlands of hell

cly 1

cly2 ( note i dropped this on the head also and more broke off}

cly3

cly4
the best one however you could see very small imperfections

Crank is in awesome shape

Time to degrees the block

once i dried everything off. i inspected the cly walls visually and physically and there were no cracks however cly 2 and 3 had some scaring on them

Off to storage and then machine shop
