1996 SE Check engine flash

ok im not sure if this is the right place fr the thread but here goes.....

I have a 1996 SE and this check engine light just started to flash one day. When i stop driving or something it stops, but when i go again it will flash. It isnt a constant flash it is more of a random unconsistent flash. If i turn the key to where the lights come on the light goes off and then i start the car and the light will come back on again.

The only thing i have seen that might seem to fit the problem is maybe a bad o2 sensor, which i assumed it was som sensor loose somewhere anyway.

Any help is appreciated thanks

I always thought there was a special "code" for the number of times it was blinking. I'm not sure where you can find the info, maybe in the manual? Someone else will have to let you know about that. But, count how many times it flashes.. and make note of it. I think you're able to find out what code it's throwing by that on the S14s too.

Uncover the ECU and see what codes it is throwing.

thats just it.... its not a code its just a on when it wants to be, off when it wants to be sort of thing.... the ecu doesnt seem to pick up the code, and when i turn the key to where all the guage cluster lights come on, the check engine light just turns off.....

the light pretty much just flickers which is why i think theres a loose sensor or something somewhere

edit: just fixing some spelling errors.... my keyboard is a piece of s*** and likes to leave out some letters like o ( all the time )

well have you tries to do the diagnostics thing, if you havnt you probably should. If you already did then tell us what code you got.

And dont gat all smart about me asking this, because you didnt specify if you did or not.

yes lol i did the diagnostic... the problem is it wont throw codes out because when you turn the key to where the check engine light comes on, it turns off a second later ( meaning everything is ok i guess, since no codes come up.... wouldnt there be a 55 or whatever for all systems ok tho? )

it code 44 that means no codes stored, when you turn th ekey on and the engine isnt running the check engine light is suposed to stay on. Then when you start it, it goes off, did you try the diagnostics mode that checks the O2 sensor, I forget how to do it, but there are like 3 different diagnostic modes, look up the other ones maybe they will help.
