200 hp N/A?

I was wondering if it was possible to get a 200 whp out of a 240 without a turbo or nos.Im guessing it would have to be a de for this to even have a chance. Is it even possible? I would want it to be a daily driver so it cant have such high compression that it needs racing gas or anything like that. If 200whp isnt possible then do you think 200 at the crank is a more realistic goal?

Thanks

At the wheels, its possible. What exactly do you need to do? Well the usual steps for making a N/A monster

There is a 240sx hatchback around here that supposedly has 236hp AT the wheels. Pure N/A monster, no Nitrous at all. I dont exactly remember what he did...but I do know he port and polished, upped the compression a bit, thinner HG, pistons and rods, upgraded cams. Much more I'm sure

strange, i was going to post the same thing... hahah

jsut another thing to through in the mix, if the block was a KA24E and it was converted to a KA24DE, would that mix things up a little to much? or does it matter?

i bet that N/A runs like crap around town. you will be spending alot of money for a N/A. since you are going to have to blow your money on premium gas anyways i would say a small turbo setup would the the best way.

1. PLease define "runs like crap". I'm still going to have my A/C also.

2. This & #3 contradict themselves. Not to sound like a smartass, but you dont build many engines do you?
You can build a KILLER NA engine for under $2K what about a turbo car?

3. Ummmm..."Blow your money on premium"...I dont understand that one..
You think a SMALL turbo set up will yeild better results than a NA engine & will be cheaper. That is a first.

Dont get me wrong. I love turbo cars. I've had 10 of them. But this is about staying NA. Putting a turbo on a NA car can be VERY expensive....if you want to do it right.
I dont see the upside of running stock internals. Spending over $1K just for a kit( unless you make it yourself) & only run 5 psi. You will gain about 60Hp at most. Not to mention turbo lag & just more things to break.
I cant in anyway see how a turbo can be in any way cheaper than staying NA.

Jr is building an NA SR20. He is putting CARBORATORS on it. Headers....cams... He just wanted to play around with something different. His biggest expense has been the intake manifold. The carbs are off of one side of a Ferrari. He had three carbs and sold one to a guy for a motorcycle. That made his investment on those back by more that 100%. This will be going in his project Skyvia.

I've ran across some engine builders out there that make KA24DE's fully built some are on the internet and offer packages that will allow you to get to 200 HP.

One builder I remember wanted 3900 for a complete 210HP N/A built engine.

There seems to be a trend toward built N/A KA's due to reliability and smogability over turbo or JDM options so I suspect there will be even more options in the future for this.

You don't have to wait for the turbo to spool.
