I have a 95 240SX stock and it runs really well, but lately it has developed a problem. The engine cuts out or stalls for a second or two and then picks right back up and runs fine. It happens more often at 70 mph and above, but can occur at lower speeds. It is very intermittent and may only happen once while driving 50 miles or more or it may happen several times, sometimes in rapid succession. Then again it may not happen at all. When it does happen it is like you removed your foot from the accelerator and then re-applied it.
I have gotten codes from both the knock sensor and the MAF. I changed the knock sensor and the problem did not happen again for 3 days, but it has now re-occurred. I am hesitant to change the MAF because of the cost and because of all the information that I have seen indicating it may not be a problem and may give a code due to something else malfunctioning.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience and found the true cause of the problem? Also does anyone know of an inexpensive source for a MAF for this car, be it new or used?
