blown head???

Ok here goes. When I first start my car it rattles real bad for about 4-5 seconds and stops. It really sounds like its comming from my head. If I sit and rev my engine all day it will not make the rattling noise, it only does it when I try to go up a hill in a high of a gear without "enough" speed to subside it from rattling. Once the car is warm and been running for a while it will do it everytime I accelerate just a little faster than normal. I have to accelerate really slow to keep it from rattling. It only does it while accelerating or going up hills which I guess would be considered accelerating. Doesnt do it will Im cruising But yea thats what ive been working with ever since I bought this car. Almost regreted ever getting a 240sx until I really stop and think about how good its gunna sound when I do get it fixed. Right now Im only running injen ram air intake, high flow cat, pacesetter headers, centerforce dual fricition clutch, obx short throw shifter, and a cheap knock off exhaust that the fiberglass blew inside of it so now it rattles to :-/. So does this sound like a blown head to yall? Just wanna make sure before I go and spend the money on a new one or used or remanu, whatever i can find.

Sounds like your timing guides or tensioners are about go. Search around to see how to fix that

The timing chain should be replaced

edit..almost double posted...this is what I found about a blown head gasket

The head gasket seals the cylinder head to the block. When it blows, it may allow coolant to leak into the engine's cylinders and/or allow compression to be lost between adjacent cylinders or to the outside.

Just out of curiousty, what exactly does the timing chain, tensioner and chain guides have to do with accelerating???? Because that is the only my car rattles, it only rattles at idle for about 4 seconds after I first start the car.

The

The chain directly specifies how fast the cam should turn, it controls your head essentially, If the chain or tensioners are damaged and theres slack or problems, it could cause the problems you are mentioning. The chain is a vital part of the car.

u can get a complete timing set and advance for a lil over 80 bucks. You will also need an oil pan gasket and a new front oil seal but i think that comes with the set im not sure. You will also need a new front cover gasket and sealant.

To check if your head gasket is leaking, and/or maybe the head is cracked, just check your oil for coolant in it, or check your overflow tank for oil in the coolant. If the head is leaking, the two fluids will mix together. If it was a blown head though, it would be running alot rougher than just slow acceleration.
